Arkansas Advocates for Nursing Home Residents is an excellent non-profit support organization dedicated to protecting nursing home residents from abuse, neglect, and fraud. AANHR's goal it to improve the quality of nursing home care in Arkansas and provide support for nursing home residents and their families. AANHR holds meetings on the second Tuesday of each month. AANHR can also assist you in filing a complaint with the appropriate government agencies if you suspect abuse, neglect, or fraud to a nursing home resident.

The Arkansas Attorney General's Offfice also has a toll-free number to investigate elder abuse and Medicaid fraud. The Office of Long Term Care conducts investigations of complaints in which abuse or neglect of residents, or misappropriation of resident property, is witnessed, suspected, or alleged in long-term care facilities. Complaint information is kept confidential. If violations of laws or regulations are found, the Office of Long Term Care can impose fines or other sanctions against the facility, and can exclude the perpetrator from employment in long-term care facilities. Any person can make a complaint, and may do so anonymously. In addition, complaints can be made by mail or e-mail. Also, the OLTC conducts periodic, unannounced surveys of all facilities in Arkansas to ensure that the facilities adhere to minimum requirements for both resident care and physical conditions. The Office can impose fines, revoke licenses, or take other action to ensure compliance.
